Sans chuckled a bit at Frisk's antics. The kid was trying to climb a tree and wasn’t doing the best of jobs. She had admitted to never climbing a tree before and had asked Sans to show them. He had agreed and now he was trying to get them to climb up an old oak tree.

“Put your foot there.” He instructed, gesturing at a notch in the wood.

Frisk nodded, placing their foot on the notch before slipping. They cried out in alarm as they began to topple towards the ground, but they were stopped mere inches above the forest floor, a soft white glow surrounding them as they were set securely back down on their feet, shivering a bit in shock.

“Careful. They can be slick sometimes.” Sans said obviously, smirking a bit as Frisk crossed their arms and pouted.

“Ah calm down kiddo. I fell down a lot too.” Sans said, hopping down from the tree limb he had been sitting on, his wings spreading out to balance himself when he hit the ground.

“Come on, let me help you this time.” He said, coming up behind Frisk, correcting her if she put her foot in the wrong spot.

Eventually, with his help, they were able to make it up to one of the sturdier middle branches. They sat down on it, gripping the edge of it until their knuckles turned white as they were afraid that they would fall off. Sans chuckled, climbing up the tree expertly and sitting next to her. She looked at him as he did this and pouted a bit.

“You’ll get it eventually. I just know it so well because I had to climb a lot of stuff when….Yeah.” Sans said, wincing a bit.

Frisk frowned a bit at this, but an idea formed in their head. They smiled slyly, raising their hands to sign.

“Hey Sans?” They asked.

“Yeah kid?”

“Race you!” They said, grabbing ahold of one of the branches above her and climbing up it as fast as they could.

Sans smirked a bit, giving them a few seconds before climbing up the other side of the tree to the top, leaning against the trunk and pretending to doze off, smirking a bit to himself. After a few minutes, Frisk popped up to the top of the tree, folding their arms when they saw Sans.

“Saaaans!” They whined, their throat objecting to it, but they did it anyways.

Sans chuckled, cracking open an eyelid and looking down at her, breaking out into a fit of laughter when he took in her appearance. Her face was curled down into a pout as she folded her arms. He guessed that if she hadn't needed it to balance, she would have stomped her foot. There were twigs and leaves stuck in her hair and clothes, one of them making it look like she had a horn like a unicorn's. It was too funny to not laugh at.

He reached forward, plucking a stick from her hair and waving it in front of her face playfully.

“I think that you’ve become a bush.” He said, his wings twitching in amusement.

Frisk pouted more, letting out a whine. Sans chuckled, kneeling down beside her and using his magic to levitate the debris out of her hair, a small pile of twigs settling down on the branch beneath her feet. She didn’t stop pouting though.

Sans smirked, poking her in the ribs, electing a surprised giggle from Frisk. Sans smirked, poking her a few more times before Frisk was clutching their sides in laughter.

“See, was that so hard?” Sans asked, smiling a bit.

Frisks giggles slowly died down, as they looked around the top of the tree. It was rather high up, about 30 feet from the ground. She knew that she was safe though. She trusted Sans would catch her if she tripped. She looked up at the sky and ohed. It was a nearly cloudless day, and the sun was shining proudly in the center of the sky, marking it as mid-day.

“Pretty ain’t it?” Sans asked, smiling a bit wistfully as he too looked up at the clear blue sky.

Frisk nodded. The two sat there just cloud gazing for awhile, enjoying the beaming golden sunlight that fell down upon their faces, but after a few minutes, something at the back of Sans mind bugged him a bit. He tore his eyes from the sky and looked down below them, nearly crying out in alarm. He quickly covered Frisk's mouth with one of his hands so she wouldn’t make any noise by accident, urgently gesturing below them.

Below them a hooded figure was looking around, dressed in a similar way to some of the mercenaries he had seen hired by...them. He slowly removed his hand from Frisk's mouth, gesturing for them to be quiet. They nodded quickly, looking down in fear.

Sans silently slipped down from the tree, being careful not to rustle any leaves. He dropped down behind the figure, preparing to use his magic to identify them…

He didn’t get the chance.

The figure whipped around, grasping him by his throat, and putting pressure on his spine. Sans struggled as his air was cut off, thrashing a bit in the other's grip, but the other was significantly stronger than him. He couldn’t move his wings enough to hit him either so the only thing he could do was struggle.

Frisk screamed, jumping down from the tree and running over to the figure, tugging on their clothes, trying to make them let go of him. The figure looked down at her confused, taking a double take at Sans whose struggles were starting to die down. The figure took one more look at Frisk before letting him go.

Sans crumpled to the ground, gasping for breath. Contrary to popular belief, Skeletons did, in fact, need air to survive as they did have veins which needed oxygen or else they could dust. He glared up at the figure as he tried to regain his breath, Frisk running over and signing frantically.

“M’ okay kiddo.” Sans said, his gaze not moving from the figure who was now staring at them curiously.

“Frisk, get back home. I’ll be there in a bit.” Sans said slowly, pushing himself off of the ground.

Frisk nodded, knowing what he meant. She ran into the forest, disappearing into the trees.

“Who the heck are you?” Sans snapped, his wings flaring a bit.

The figure didn’t answer, staring out at him under his hood.

“I asked you a question.” He snapped, glaring daggers at the figure.

The figure sighed.

“the names sans, sans the skeleton.” They said, their hood falling from their face.

Sans stared at him, sputtering a bit. The skeleton looked almost exactly like him, complete with a trademark lazy grin. The only thing he was missing was wings. Though he had something else. There was a marking over his left eye. It was glowing a slight blue color, though it was indistinguishable if you weren’t staring at it. Another thing was his teeth were...sharp. Almost like fangs.

Though that wasn’t the important thing. The important thing was that he was staring at an almost exact clone. This was virtually impossible. It was… scientifically impossible. Wait.. Maybe the many worlds theory? That could be possible.

The figure… Sans? Cleared their throat. He realized he had zoned out for a minute.

“Who, the heck. Are you? How do you look like me? How… are you me?” Sans asked slowly.

“nah, i would explain all of this raven, but ‘m too lazy.” They said.

“Raven? How do you know that name?” Sans asked, glaring suspiciously at him. The only person who knew about that name and called him that was Frisk.

“its what they call you. the people from outside of the screen.” They said, leaning lazily against a tree.

“What? Outside of the screen? What the heck does that even mean?” Sans snapped.

“just as it’s said. outside of this screen, silently observing every single move you make.” They said, their grin widening.

Raven blinked a few times, shivering a bit. Frisk had told him a few things about other beings. Ones that were controlling everything. Truth be told it gave him nightmares. It was too much of a reminder of the flower and what he had done all those years. All the times he had felt himself getting ripped into a thousand particles of dust, all those times he had watched his brother die right in front of his eyes. All th-

No no no he couldn’t think about it. He couldn’t risk something like that right now. Not now. Not here. He took a deep breath to calm his shaky nerves. When he looked up, the figure was staring at him with a bemused expression. Sans expression darkened as his anger got the better of him.

He moved forward quickly, pinning him against the tree by his shoulders.

“Okay, you smug idiot. Tell me who you are, and where you came from.” He snapped, the lights in his eye sockets all but gone.

“heh. nah. that’s not any fun.” He said, the lazy grin evident on his face.

Sans growled under his breath. This freaking idiot refuse-

“Sans? Sans where did you go? The human came back without you, and I go- Oh uh, hello! Who are you?” Papyrus asked, coming into the clearing, and spotting the other skeleton.

“Papyrus? Uh, bro you probably shouldn’t be here.” He said a bit nervously. He didn’t trust this situation at all.

“Paps?” The skeleton asked quietly, shaking their head a bit. “Huh. so what they said about this stuff was true.”

Sans looked at him confused.

“How do you know his name?” He snapped.

“well its probably too much for you to handle. wouldnt wantcha to lose it now would we?” They asked.

Sans flinched.

“Brother? What does he mean?” Papyrus asked.

“Don’t ask Bro. Everything's okay.” He said.

The figure looked around for a minute, glancing up at the sun before disappearing from Under Sans’s hold. Sans whipped around to see him standing behind him.

“welp, i better get going. i don’t want to get my brother to start worrying about me it was nice to meet you though.” They said.

Sans glared at him.

“Who the heck are you?” He snapped.

“well…” They said, the marking on their head glowing slightly blue, their left eye a deep cyan to match.

“you can call me Berserk.”
